Cooking With Sue offers residents the chance to prepare their favorite family recipes in a social setting which promotes a sense of well-being, purpose and happiness in community living.
Cooking With Sue was first introduced years ago when current resident Annie Sue Thompson realized she wanted to share her love of cooking with other residents. Her true passion was realized and Sue’s cooking club was born.

 

Today, Sue inspires and encourages residents of all ages and backgrounds to engage in recipe research, cooking discussions, ingredient prep, and the actual cooking of a dish, helping to create a sense of community and culture in the kitchen.

Family Traditions In The Kitchen

At Pleasant Valley, our residents love to participate in the selection and preparation of cooking activities to learn a new skill, grow the mind, and stimulate the senses. For many, the act of cooking brings back fond family memories from childhood, including recipes passed down for generations. Cooking With Sue invites residents to share their world-famous German, Irish, Greek, Italian or other native-dishes, teach other residents how to prepare the dish, and then cook and enjoy the meal together for a sense of connection.
